Keira Knightley recently bared her upper half for a good cause: to take a stand against Photoshopped pictures in magazines which present an untrue (and oftentimes) impossible body standard.
The shoot took place with Interview Magazine, and Knightley herself requested the photos go into the mag unedited to make a statement against photo editing.
Said Knightley to the Times, “I think women’s bodies are a battleground and photography is partly to blame.”
“I’ve had my body manipulated so many different times for so many different reasons, whether it’s paparazzi photographers or for film posters,” she explained.
“That [shoot] was one of the ones where I said: ‘OK, I’m fine doing the topless shot so long as you don’t make them any bigger or retouch.’ Because it does feel important to say it really doesn’t matter what shape you are.”
You may recall that back in 2004 Knightley’s breasts were dramatically altered to promote the film King Arthur.
For those of you who are curious, you can see the very NSFW and very topless Keira Knightley on the Interview Magazine website.
